Dialectical Journals 17-30 17. "Sometimes the queen herself appeared, peace-pledge between nations, to hearten the young ones and hand out a torque to a warrior, then take her place." 2017-2020 Here, Beowulf speaks highly of the queen. By the queen's speech, he takes away that she is a peace-pledge between nations, and she used her position to inspire courage into the hearts of the soldiers. 18. She was personable in her reception. 4.  Accrue:     (of sums of money or benefits) be received by someone in regular or increasing amounts over time.      Ex: Your wisdom will accrue with age. 5.  Malady:      a disease or ailment.      Ex: Mr. Johnson had an incurable malady. 6.  Entreaty:       an earnest or humble request.      Ex: She clasped her hands in an entreaty for pity.

Dialectical Journal 1-16 1. "Shield was still thriving when his time came and he crossed over into the Lord's keeping." Line 30 This line depicts that though Shield had been admired greatly by everyone, even when the time of his death came. And he goes over to God, as described. 2. "They decked his body no less bountifully with offerings than those first ones did who cast him away when he was a child and launched him alone out over the waves." Line 43 This line may imply that Shield was ignored and seen as an enemy more than a hero, during his role his worth increased to the people. He was kind and great, and for that reason after his death he was bidden farewell in ways similar to those who had at first, ignored him; the rulers and powerful people who ruled over the Spear-Danes. 3.
