Summary of Part 2:

 Julia passes winston a note saying "I love you" to get his attention. Later they meet up and decide upon meeting at Victory Square; where they again decide to meet and talk to each other. Winston gets to know Julia and he falls in love with her, where love is a symbol of hope and Winston considers his relationship with Julia an act of rebellion against the party.
They met regularly but very briefly with each other after that. One day they decided to have a romantic rendezvous at the apartment above Mr charrington's shop; where they enjoy real coffee, sugar and tea. Rats appear, scaring Winston extremely and foreshadowing the end of Winston's war with himself at the end of the book.

Winston would have conversations about the party with Julia in that apartment from then. And one day he discovers that Julia also believes the lies that the party feeds them; even though her intentions are to take them down. 

O'Brien finally approaches Winston and sets up a meeting using the excuse of showing him the new Newspeak dictionary. Before meeting with OBrien and discussing what they would do if they got caught by the Party, they both promised to each other to never change their feelings for each other and respect their loyalty. In the meantime, Winston dreams of his mother and sister, and thinks that he is the reason that they might not be alive then. Excited Winston and Julia meet up with O'Brien where he tells them he is against the Party as well and interrogates them to make sure of their loyalty to Emmanuel Goldstein's cause. 

 Hate Week starts, both Winston and Julia are exhausted with their work; but they are taken with Goldstein's manifesto that was given to them by O'Brien. The book describes how the Party controls the people, but not why. 

 Ultimately, one day Winston and Julia are together when the thought police get in their apartment, revealing that Mr. Charrington is hardly what he seemed he was, and has sold them out. They get arrested. 

Major theme: Love

 1. The sexual relationship between Winston and Julia turns into an affectionate relationship where they swear to each other to never betray the other one; their physical relationship is also considered as rebelling against the party by them.

 2. Winston's dreams of his mother and his deep desire to see her again while thinking that he might have killed her. He still has affection towards his mother even though he doesn't know where she is.

 3. The romantic aspect of when Julia brings in all the "elite" food items and has a makeover to make her time with Winston special. Winston also feels more "in love" or real affection towards Julia than he ever did for his wife Katherine. 

Major Symbols:

 1. The Red-Armed Prole Woman: She represents the power of Proles from Winston's perspective. Just before he gets arrested by the Thought Police, he comes to the decision that the Proles are immortal, by seeing the Red Armed woman hang laundry up. 

 2. The Apartment above Mr. Charrington's shop: The apartment contains objects that remind Winston of the stability in his past; the glass coral, the painting of the church of St Clements, symbolizes his desire to reconnect with his past.
